About us
The African American Alumni Chapter (AAAC) is a community where Black alumni and students can connect, grow, celebrate, and lead together.
Through chapter meetings, social events, mentorship, scholarships, and student engagement, AAAC is committed to celebrating Black excellence, supporting student success, and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation — while keeping our community connected to each other and to Southeastern. In addition to our events and initiatives, we also award two scholarships every year: the Dr. LaVanner S. Brown Scholarship and the AAAC Endowed Scholarship. These scholarships help support the academic and professional endeavors of deserving students in our community.
Our mission is to empower and uplift the African-American community at SLU by providing a platform for sharing stories, promoting success, and fostering discussion on important topics. Our vision is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all members can thrive and make a positive impact on the world.

HOMECOMING
This committee focuses on supporting one of our most anticipated events of the year - leading the planning and execution of Homecoming, overseeing logistics, vendors, décor, media, promotions, and awards to ensure a seamless and impactful experience.
OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
Focuses on strengthening relationships with alumni, students, and community partners. This committee helps increase member involvement, support recruitment and retention efforts, coordinate engagement initiatives, and foster a welcoming and connected AAAC community.
FUNDRAISING
Supports the chapter’s fundraising initiatives and scholarship efforts through sponsorship outreach, fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, event support, and creative initiatives that help sustain AAAC programming and impact.
COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
This committee supports AAAC communications—managing branding, social media, content, and event promotion to keep our community informed and engaged.
